Bradley Lee Warnemunde, a man of leadership, passed into eternity on February 28, 2010, in Cincinnati, Ohio, following a courageous battle with Alzhiemers. He was 76.
Mr. Warnemunde was born in Winside, Nebraska, on March 21, 1933. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary, in 1952. He later attended Kansas State University and the University of Nebraska. His love of sports compelled him to become a state official of both football and basketball, something he did for several years as a young man. In 1954, Mr. Warnemunde began a career with Ohio National Life Insurance Company as a part-time agent in Nebraska, and later became a general agent in 1961. His career led to regional sales management, and he relocated to the home office in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1969 as Vice President and Agency Director. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1971; was named Senior Vice President and Agency Director in 1972; Senior Vice President, Marketing, in 1979; and Executive Vice President, Marketing, in 1982.
Mr. Warnemunde was elected President and Chief Operating Officer in 1984, and Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer in 1985. Throughout his career he served the life insurance industry in many positions, including terms on the boards of directors of the three industry organizations including the American Council of Life Insurance (ACLI), the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (LIMRA) and the Life Office Management Association (LOMA).
In the Cincinnati community, Mr. Warnemunde served as a Director of the Star Bank of Cincinnati and Star Banc Corp., N.A., is an emeritus member of the Commercial Club, and was involved in the United Way and the city's Leadership Cincinnati.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, was an avid tennis player and Charter Member of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Beloved husband of Mary F. Warnemunde (nee Carhart), loving father of Jon B. (Kathy) of Tampa, Florida, Ralph E. (Belen) of Clive, Iowa, Brian C. (Michelle) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Clay S. (Debbie) of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dear son of the late Erwin T. and Francis I. (nee Render), brother of David (Nancy) and Dennis, and brother-in law of Charles and Joan Carhart. Mr. Warnemunde was also blessed with eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
