Barbara Ann Brate

Barbara Ann Brate, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on October 3rd, 2022. Born on June 18, 1948, she is the daughter of the late James Henry and Geneva Frances (nee Clifton) Parrott. Barb is the beloved wife of Michael Vincent Brate, having been wed for 53 years; since October 18th, 1969. Barb and Michael have one daughter, Roxanne (Anthony) Your, and 3 grandchildren, Madison, Michael, and Zachary Your.

Barb is survived by her Sister, Nancy (Michael) Newman, Brother-in-law Joe Brate, Aunt Anna New and Uncle Clarence Clifton. She is preceded by Sister-in-law Patrica Borntrager, Brother-in-law Robert Brate, and Uncle William Clifton

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many many friends from both Ohio and Florida.

Barb and Michael were Snowbirds, spending their time back and forth between Ohio and Florida. Barb enjoyed all manner of sports including canoeing, kayaking, hiking, pickleball, corn hole, bowling, and cheering on her grandkids. She always said she "Never met a stranger," and had made many friends up here in Ohio, especially at the Anderson Senior Center (where she would bring her mother before going on her own). In Florida there is a whole host of other friends, much of which are her neighbors at the Dunedin RV Resort where Michael and Barb have a tiny getaway.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, from 10am until 11am at Moore Family Funeral Home, 6708 Main St, Newtown, OH 45244. A funeral service will follow, starting at 11am. Burial will take place the same day at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 686 Mt. Moriah Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio  45245.

Barb and I have known each other all our lives. Two old Newtown girls who shared many fun times growing up together, spending time at the firehouse with our dads (who also were childhood friends) and sharing our love for horses at Miljoie Farms. Barb was always so fun and full of life and up for any adventure. Over the years life and family got in the way, but we still stayed in touch as much as we could. I shall miss you my friend.
