Dear Rothert Family, I am truly sorry for your tremendous loss and would like to express our condolences to the entire family. Grief can be so hard, so may your special memories of David help you cope and bring you comfort. Also may the comfort of God and his future blessings (Rev.21:3,4) help you at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I grew up on Carlton two doors down from Dave, my sister Cathy and his sister Karen were the best of friends, my mom and Tommy were friends as far back as I can remember, my Grandpa, his dad, and Mr. Stacy were huge reds fans and would sit on their porches listen to the games and discuss them. Growing up in such a small community everyone new each other Dave was always very nice to me and everyone else. As I've read on most people's memories about him, he indeed had a beautiful smile very contagious. Many years ago when my grandpa was sick he offered help to my Mom and would stop in at the fire department and ask my uncle Jack how my grandpa and mom were doing and if they needed anything. That is not something that many people who were busy working, married, raising a family, and just busy with life would think about doing. When my grandpa passed he stopped by with a cake and a lovely card written with fond memories of their talks and time spent together. Several years after I ran into Dave at Krogers. We talked for a few minutes he asked about my mom and I told him she was loosing her battle with cancer and I broke down crying. He hugged me until I stopped crying, and asked if I needed anything. He stopped by to see her a couple days later. These are the some of the memories that I have of one of the genuinely nicest people I've known. God speed Dave.

While I'll never understand the reason you were taken from us so very young, I am so grateful I had you as my brother! Great memories David, which I will cherish forever. You will always be in my heart baby brother. I know you will keep them smiling up in heaven and we will always remember your smiles here for now until we meet again someday. Love you brother, your loving sister Janet...

I was a classmate of David's. I loved his laugh and his smile was contagious. He was such a genuine down to earth guy - both when we were in school and more recently when we talked about both sets of our kids going to Mariemont. He was so proud of his kids and loved his family! He will be greatly missed!

I grew up with Dave at Carlton and Hawthorn. me and Dave and Dewight Stacy would play wiffle ball at the intersection next to his dads house. it would take my mom yanking me by the arm and his dad whistling to get our butts in because it was too late and too dark that's one of my favorite memories.
