Etta L. Brown

Brown Etta L (nee Crisp) “Cookie”, resident of Batavia, OH went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2024, in Loveland, OH at the age of 98.  Etta was born on May 11, 1925, in Carter County, Ky to her late parents David and Minnie (nee Jennings) Crisp. She was married to Vernal L. Brown for 39 yrs. until divorcing in 1984.  

 Loving Mother of the late Caryl A. Roberts, Sandra L. DuPriest (Paul), Deborah L. Fishback (John) and the late Phillip A. Brown. Loving sister of Kenneth, Elmer, Lula Mae, Rosa Myrtle, and Homer. 

Cherished grandmother of Janice Barringer, Scott and Jay DuPriest, Courtney Cole ( Mike), John Fishback (Brandi), Jamie Lay (Andrew), Joshua Fishback, and Phillip Brown II.  

Proud Great-grandmother of Eddie, Justin, Ally, Alex, Aurora, Marissa, Rebecca, Eden, Addison, John Quincy, Wyatt, George and Roman . 

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  

Etta was the oldest of her siblings and lost her mom at the age of 11. She went to work at an early age of 13 as domestic help. In the 50's she worked as a car hop at the 62nd Shop located on Central Parkway in Cincinnati and at Mrs. Allison Cookie Bakery located in Norwood OH. She smelled like cookies, so her nickname was "Cookie".  After moving to Clermont County in 1961 she was a stay-at-home mom.  She worked hard all her life, stood up for herself when she needed to, had a great sense of humor and loved flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing and playing cards. She loved and cared for her children and was always there when needed for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very much loved by all and will be greatly missed.  

Family will receive friends May 7, 2024, at Graceland Memorial Gardens Chapel for a public visitation from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM time of service. Interment in Graceland Memorial.
