George Anthony Derby

George Anthony Derby was born on 4 June 1938 in Manhattan, New York City, NY. After high school, George enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the submarine corps as an Electrician. After his discharge, he returned to New York where he met his wife Audrey Diane Smith. After their marriage, the couple moved to Poughkeepsie, NY. George began an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which became his career. They eventually moved to the rural village of Stanfordville, NY where they built a home and lived for many years. George was an avid hunter, gunsmith and reader. He was pre-deceased by his wife Audrey, who passed away in December of 2024. He is survived by his son, Scott Eugene Derby of Poughkeepsie, NY, his granddaughter Haeley Curry, great-grandson Donovan Zander Nardone and great-granddaughter Aislinn Genevive Nardone, all of Plainfield, Illinois. He is also survived by his brother James Eugene Derby of Buffalo, NY.
