George L. Sturgeon

George L. Sturgeon Sr., 81, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on July 20, 2021. He entered this world on July 18, 1940 in Winchester, KY born to John R. Sturgeon and Ruby J. Chapman. He is survived by wife Esther L. Sturgeon; son Rick L Sturgeon (spouse Erin); daughter Teresa A. Collins; son George L. Sturgeon Jr (spouse Melanie); son Kenneth J. Sturgeon (spouse Kelly); sister Jacqueline Chapman-Borgia (spouse Frank); 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. George spent most of his professional life in the textile industry with multiple companies, as well as being an entrepreneur of two companies in textile manufacturing. He was a life long musician having played bass guitar with the GBD Trio and the What 4. George was also a long time member of The Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship serving as the chapter secretary. George was preceded in death by wife, Jean A. Carter-Sturgeon; mother, Ruby J. Chapman; father, John R. Sturgeon. Family will welcome family and friends for a visitation Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM until time of service 1 PM at Moore Family Funeral Home, 225 Spring Street, Batavia, OH 45103.
