On Sunday, November 28, 2021, Gladys Louise Pitman, loving wife and mother of five children, passed away at the age of 98. Gladys was born on January 15, 1923, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Stanley and Hazel Aichholz. The second of their four children. Gladys left school shortly before her high school graduation to care for her severely ill mother. She worked during WWII at the Baldwin Building drilling holes in metal parts for airplane wings. On October 21, 1945, she married Jesse Ford Pitman. They raised five children, one son, Jack and four daughters, Linda, Caroline, Deborah and Sandra. They also raised their first grandson, Steven. Gladys had a passion for playing Bingo. She also loved to play cards and put puzzles together, and loved to read romance novels. She was known for her quick wit, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Stanley, her mother, Hazel, her sister Viola, and her brother Cedric. She was also preceded by her husband Jesse in 1977, and two of her daughters Linda in 2021 & Caroline in 2011. She is survived by three of her children, Jack, Deborah, and Sandra, and her brother Donald. She was a grandmother of ten, (David, Meshelle, Stephen, Steven, Denise, John Christine, Michael, Tracy, & Stacey), a great grandmother of 27, and a great, great grandmother of four.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Moore Family Funeral Home 6708 Main Street, Newtown where friends may call from 10 AM until time of service at 11AM. Burial to immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford Ohio. Flowers or tributes may be sent to 6708 Main St, Cincinnati, OH 45244.
