John Howard Pugh, 84, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on June 11, 2026. Born on July 20, 1941, to the late F. Mercer and Adrienne Pugh. Loving Husband of the late Christine L. Pugh. Cherished Father of Lance (Adrienne Gordon) Pugh, the late Laura C. Pugh, and the late Sandy Pugh. Devoted Grandfather of Lyra Adrienne Pugh and Finnegan Mercer Pugh. Brother of Shirley (the late Tom) Williams, the late Richard (surviving Zoa) Pugh, Charlene (the late Robert) Beeler, and Cathleen (Lee) Curry. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. John lived a long life marked by quiet generosity, sharp intellect, and an easygoing spirit that put everyone around him at ease.
John graduated as valedictorian of Wauseon High School before earning his engineering degree from Ohio Northern University. He went on to build a distinguished career as an Aerospace Engineer at Cincinnati Milacron, where he worked for more than 25 years. Despite his remarkable accomplishments, John remained one of the most humble people you could ever meet, always deflecting praise and lifting up those around him instead.
John married Christine Cassel, and together they built a loving family and a life full of cherished memories. He was a devoted father of three and a proud grandfather of two. When he wasn't working, John could be found tinkering on one of his cars, relaxing at the family's lake house in Michigan, working in the garden, reading books and watching TV. Family vacations held a special place in his heart, and he was always generous with both his time and his money, quietly supporting charitable causes and lending a hand to anyone in need. He seemed to carry a good mood with him wherever he went despite the challenges life presented him.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Moore Family Funeral Home, located at 6708 Main St, Newtown, OH 45244, on Tuesday, June 16th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., to celebrate John's life and share in the memories of a truly great man.
