Joseph C. Holtzclaw (Joey), born May 8, 1981, of Clermont County, Ohio, passed away on September 10, 2026.
Joey was a remarkably quick-witted and charismatic person whose humor and lively spirit brought laughter and joy to those around him. He had a natural ability to make people feel at ease and was someone whose presence could brighten any room. Beneath his humor was a genuinely kind and compassionate heart, and he cared deeply for the people he loved.
Joey encouraged those around him to take care of themselves and to live well. He possessed a remarkable natural talent and an ability to excel at nearly anything he pursued. His strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to give his best made him highly valued and respected in every workplace he entered.
Above all, Joey loved his family deeply. His greatest legacy will live on through the many people whose lives he touched.
Joey is survived by his mother, Kathy Hamilton (Chris Hamilton); his six children, Alicia Holtzclaw, MacKenzie Holtzclaw, Joseph Holtzclaw, Peyton Holtzclaw, Charlie Holtzclaw, and Justin Holtzclaw; his brother, Jason Holtzclaw (Emily Holtzclaw); his sisters, Susan Prather and Sarah Hamilton; his grandmother, Nancy Caprario (Art Caprario); his father, Dan Holtzclaw; and dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other beloved family members and friends.
Those who knew Joey will remember him for his quick wit, generous spirit, determination, natural talents, and the laughter he so freely shared with others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at Moore Family Funeral Home in Batavia, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. The memorial will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Farmer.
