Leonard R. Dickerson, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born on June 10, 1933, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, Leonard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he operated tanks and amphibious vehicles and was recognized as a sharpshooter. After his military service, he became a skilled bricklayer, crafting many beautiful projects-including his own home.
However, Leonard was best known in the community as the beloved owner of Len's Barbershop in the Glen Este area, where he welcomed generations of customers for nearly 60 years. His warm presence, steady hands, and friendly conversation made his shop a cornerstone of the neighborhood.
Outside of work, Leonard found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid horseman who loved riding and caring for his horses. His deep appreciation for the outdoors was evident in his passion for gardening, where he spent countless hours tending to his plants and enjoying nature's beauty.
Leonard R. Dickerson is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jane M. Dickerson (née Elick), and sons Leonard D. Dickerson (Lynne) and Joseph D. Dickerson (Barbara). He is also survived by his siblings: Naomi Campbell, Marcia Tinker, Gordon Dickerson, Matilda Doughman, and Phyllis Gibson.
Leonard's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Abby L. Holcomb (Andy Holcomb), Landon D. Dickerson (Lina), and Lindsay R. Dickerson, and his great-grandchildren: Aubrey L. Holcomb, Brady J. Holcomb, Xander D. Holcomb, and Victoria J. Dickerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Laura Monday, Fred Dickerson, Charles Dickerson, Elbert Dickerson, and Harvey Dickerson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Moore Funeral Home in Batavia, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. A military honor salute will take place at the gravesite in Batavia Union Cemetery immediately following the service.
