Vietnam War Era, US Army
Lucille Lena (Guenther) Ramirez, "Lucy" age 77, died on 8th of April 2024 of complications related to a recent colon surgery and the difficulties with fighting Parkinson's Disease for the past twelve years. She passed away at the Cincinnati, OH Veterans Hospital surrounded by her daughter and sister. Lucy passed, precisely as the darkness from the full solar eclipse passed over Cincinnati.
She was born to John and Mary Guenther in Batavia, March 31, 1947, the eldest of twelve children. Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved first-born daughter, Mary Elizabeth, her parents John, and Mary, brother Ernest, sisters Louella and Sheila. We take comfort in the peace of knowing she is at rest in the arms of her first-born Mary Elizabeth, and her mother Mary. She is survived by her son, Christopher S and daughter Isha L, as well as their father and ex-husband, Dallas Ramirez from Colorado. Lucy also is survived by her siblings, Johnny, Warren, William, Anna, Mary, Margaret, Candy and Betty. Additionally, her survivors include grandsons Kohl and Kane Headle, both of Colorado, her extended family that includes, cousins, nieces and nephews from Texas to Colorado and throughout Ohio.
Lucy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972 and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class while assigned to the 104th Training Division, U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Bragg, NC. After completing her term of service, she was a very successful teacher's aide and substitute teacher. Lucy was particularly skilled at working in Special Education. She was able to make a memorable connection with these students. There were several teachers who would request her by name, because of her love and compassion for the students. Lucy, mom, sister and friend, will be dearly missed.
