Marjorie Roberts

Newtown - Roberts, Marjorie J., passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 6th, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born on February 3rd, 1938 to parents Albert Baker and Roetta (nee Smith) Baker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Claudius Roberts.

Cherished Mother of Lyndon N. Lewis, Claude R. Roberts, Joel E. Roberts, and Rhonda (the late Jerry) Pennington. Beloved Mamaw to Claudia, Dylan, and Taylor Roberts, Jacob Cheney, Rebecca Rattenbury, Bud, Aaron, and Jammie Pennington, and Amanda Flischel. The greatest Mamaw Jo to several Great-Grandchildren, and a handful of Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was the devoted sister to Nettie Richmond, and the late Dewey "Eddie" Baker and the late Virgil "Bobby" Baker. She was also a very close friend to her sister in law, Anna Sue, and her brother in law, JC.

Marjorie had many hobbies in life, the greatest of them being gardening. There wasn't a flower she didn't like! She also liked canning. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats, bluegrass and country music, and was proud of her Appalachian roots. She would often entertain people with her tales of growing up in Appalachia, including stories about her father being a moonshiner. She would tell people "I'm proud to be a Hillbilly!" Most of all she loved her family dearly and had a very close bond and lifelong friendship with her mother, a bond that she also shared with her daughter, Rhonda.

Visitation to be held on Friday, February 9th, 2024 starting at 6:00PM, with a service following at 8:00PM at Moore Family Funeral Homes in Newtown - 6708 Main St., Newtown, OH, 45244. Burial to follow the next day on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 10:30AM at South Sparta Church Cemetery, 13975 W County Line Rd, Moores Hill, IN 47032.
