Nick Marantos, age 78, passed away on May 26, 2023. Born December 2, 1944, in Bakersfield, California to the late Gus Frank and Tula (nee Costas) Marantos. Loving Husband of Florence E. (nee Womack) Marantos. Cherished father of Krista (Randy) Monnin and Gus (Kim) Marantos. Beloved Grandfather of Kate, Drew, Oliver, Talia, and Indigo. Brother of the late Frank and Marina "Chupa" Marantos, and brother-in-law to Earl Womack. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Nick's rallying cry during his life was sports. He was a football player and swimmer in high school. As an adult he coached Jr. High football and officiated High School football games for many years. During COVID, Nick and Florence moved from their home in Bakersfield, California, to be closer to their daughter and grandkids in Ohio. Every chance he got; he went to his grandkids games to support them. His free time was taken up playing Handball, Golf, Fishing, or playing cards with his "Old Crony Group" of friends. He and Florence would travel often to see their children and grandchildren, and he cherished every moment he got with them. Sometimes those travels landed them on a beach, where he and Florence would spend hours relaxing and taking in the beauty. He was very dedicated to his wife, family, and commitments he made to those around him.

The Marantos family will not be holding services for Nick. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Nick's Honor to Links for Life, a breast cancer awareness group out of his hometown of Bakersfield, who helped him through his own breast cancer diagnosis and recovery, or the Madeira Athletic Boosters Association, where his grandchildren still play. Links to both will follow below.
