Dad, As I look back over the years I find myself wondering Did we thank you enough for all you have done for us For all the times you were by our sides to help and support us To celebrate our successes and understand our problems And to accept our defeats Or for teaching us by your example The value of hard work and good judgement Courage and integrity I wonder if we ever thanked you for all the sacrifices you've made To let us have the very best And for the simple things like laughter, smiles and hugs For teaching me it's ok to say I love and say it often Thank you Dad for all you have given of yourself Thank you for teaching me by your example Thank you for teaching me how to help others in need Thank you for loving the family as much as you did I will be talking to you daily Dad Love, Your only son Frank Wayne Burns

Wrapped in Beauty Touch me sweet and tender hands Rough with the calluses of a working man Hold me, body and spirit Wrapped in the comfort of your scent Like woodlands, green things and clear blue skies Call me beauty in that curious way That says that even after all these years You still find me intriguing Just as you did when we were just sixteen Unknowingly dreaming the same dream. by Amanda Burns

I'm Coming Home (for Robert W. Burns) Home is a lighthouse Standing on the banks of a ragged sea When the night consumes the day Its light is gently guiding me My ship keeps moving on Though the water's getting rough That light in the distance is beaconing me And I'm coming home Back home, where my family will greet me Back home, where I'll be moored in safety My ship is battered, I'm coming home It won't be long, I keep sailing on Steadily toward the lights of home And when I reach my port My friends and family will be there That soft light will wash over me As I hold them in my hands I'm coming home Back home, where my family awaits me Back home, where I'll moor in safety And if you think you've lost me You're a fool, I'm right here Just because you can't see my ship Doesn't mean I'm not there My light will ease you When the storm clouds drown the sky I will be there When the waves crash too high And I'll be there When your ship's sailing into port My light will guide you safely home Where our family will meet you Where I'll wrap my arms around you And we'll stand together hand and hand And watch our fleet bobbing proudly As they make life's journey across the ragged sea They'll come home Where we'll be waiting Back home, where we'll all moor in safety.
