I met Shirley about a year ago in the nursing home. She was my mom's roommate following a knee surgery. Shirley was such a warm and friendly person. It was nice going in to see mom and Shirley both. Before I met her, I wasn't sure how I would enjoy visits with mom having a stranger there, but Shirley quickly became a very cherished lady to myself and my 3 kids as well as a very special friend to my mom. We liked to bring her in snacks from time to time for her to stash away in a drawer for her late night hunger pains and sweet tooth. She shared with other people there as well sometimes because she was such a sweet person. She colored the most beautiful pictures and would even draw the most beautiful sketches and always wanted to show us when we came. I will very much miss her, and especially her onery side! She made me laugh and always told me to smile! She really liked to save cookies or candies to give my 3 year old Nathan, and talked if my one older sons dimples! She loved the dimples... She spoke of her family often, especially her children. Always very good things. I remember when one was on a long trip, I showed her on my phone where they were at in Michigan after a phone call so she could see where they were. I believe Pat was who. She sounded like she had a lovely family and was very loved. You could tell she loved them dearly and always had a positive outlook. I never heard her complain of being where she was at. Always was appreciative of her kids when they visited. She was well loved and she seemed to know that.
