Virginia Lee Heming peacefully passed away on July 14, 2025, in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 86. Born on July 9, 1939, to Earl and Ruth (née Bailyn) Fisher, Virginia lived a long and beautiful life devoted entirely to her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late William Samuel Heming, a proud U.S. Marine, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and unconditional love. Virginia's world revolved around her husband and the family they created - her greatest legacy.
She was the cherished mother of Victoria (Bill) Thomas, Bill (Pam) Heming, Timothy (Sara) Heming, Thomas (Holly) Heming, and Michael (the late Greg Hatcher) Heming. She was a proud and loving grandmother to April (DJ), RJ, Allison (Leah), Courtney (Marcus), Zachary (Brooklyn), Spencer, Emory, and TJ. Her great-grandchildren - Zoey, Kaylee, Brylee, Kylee, Parker, Avery, Everlee and Sammy.
Virginia met William when she was just 13 years old - a meeting that would shape the rest of her life. In between clerical work at places like McAlpin's and Cincinnati Bell, she married her sweetheart, raised five children, and embraced the full-time role of devoted homemaker. She was the heart of her household - cooking, cleaning, cheering from the sidelines at countless games, and always ready to shuttle kids wherever they needed to go.
Her tough but fair approach to parenting was legendary, and her sharp wit and well-aimed shoe were equally memorable. If you stepped out of line, you'd better duck - because that shoe was coming from wherever she was watching! Even when the grandchildren came along, Virginia never missed a beat. She was the center of family life - showing love in all the ways that mattered most, and teaching each of us what it truly means to be a family.
Though the last few years of her life were marked by a difficult battle with dementia and the heartbreaking loss of her beloved William, Virginia's spirit still lit up in the presence of her family. Her love remained unwavering, and her legacy of strength, faith, humor, and fierce devotion lives on in everyone who knew her.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on July 30, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 3227 Church St, Cincinnati, OH 45244. Interment will take place at 11:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Montgomery, OH 45249, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved William.
