Walter was born on August 9, 1928 in Busy, Kentucky. He grew up working hard, attending school in a two-room schoolhouse and learning Christian values early on. Times were hard, as they were for most Appalachian families. As a teen, when he wasn't working on the family farm he worked in his uncle's general store until the age of 22 when he went into the military.
Walter served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean war aboard the USS Saufley. He was always proud that he had the opportunity to serve his country.
After the military he married his childhood sweetheart and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked and raised a family.
Walter had a few different jobs during his career, but most was with the General Motors Plant in Norwood. He retired after 21 years when the plant was shut down.
Walter enjoyed working outdoors raising a garden, fishing, and good country food, but his biggest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
